Don’t Forget to Sow in The Season of Abundance

Today, I’m going to tell you a story.

It’s about a very close family member of mine. This story isn’t for judgment, it’s simply a lesson I believe young people need to hear. Well, now that I think about it, age doesn’t even matter. This message is for everyone. For privacy’s sake, I’ll call him Frank.

Here goes.

Once upon a time, life was very good for Frank. He was making great money and living well. He had the latest cars. Frank also ate the best food and stopped cooking at home altogether. Girls were practically at his feet. The whole community respected him.

At one point, he stopped driving himself and started rolling with a personal driver or in simpler terms, his friends drove him around in his luxury cars. He went to strip clubs, stayed in hotels, and lived a luxurious lifestyle. He made money and spent it. Simple as that.

And for a while, that worked.

The math was mathing, and life was lifing.

But Frank had a bad habit. He treated friends like family, and family like outsiders. He was very mean to those closest to him, yet spent lavishly on his friends.

Fast forward to today.

Business went bad, and he had no preparations in place. No savings. No investments. Nothing. Now, he’s battling health issues without health insurance or even money to visit a doctor.

The same family he pushed aside are now the ones stepping up to help him. His friends? Nowhere to be found. The money is gone, and so is the luxury. The cars he once bragged about are parked up and broken down, he can’t even afford to fix them.

Life is unpredictable.

One day you’re up, the next you’re down.

If things are going well, don’t get caught up in the moment, think ahead.

    •    What if I lose my job?

    •    What if I get sick?

    •    Do the people around me really care about me?

    •    Or are they just here for what I can give them?

These are questions we all need to ask ourselves.

Make sure you cherish the real ones in your life, the people who care about you and your well-being. The ones who love you for you, not for what you can give them.

The Bible says, “A just man falls seven times and rises again.” So even if things look bad now, it doesn’t mean you’re going to stay down forever. But you have to find the strength to rise, and hold on to the lessons you’ve learned, so you don’t keep making the same mistakes.

I believe Frank will have a redemption story.

And I pray that when that time comes, he’s wiser, more grounded, and more appreciative of those who truly love him.

Most of all, I hope he finds the Lord.

And I hope he realizes that material things fade but God’s love, and the love of genuine people, will always remain.
