Trusting AI vs. Faith: How to Balance Technology and Belief in a Rapidly Changing World

Today, I want to talk about something a little different. I’m not sure how to start so here goes.

Before I dive in, let me share a Bible verse with you, one that I think really puts things into perspective:

“Then they said, ‘Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.’” Genesis 11:4

Now, this verse? It’s proof that from the very beginning, humans have been curious, ambitious, and always pushing boundaries. We’ve come a long way, from breakthroughs in healthcare to mind-blowing advances in technology. And now, we’re stepping into a whole new era with AI which is honestly incredible in ways I can’t even fully wrap my head around.

But as amazing as AI is, I can’t help but wonder… where are we heading?

The Dangers of Unchecked AI: Who Will Control It?

At first, I was just thinking about AI taking over jobs, you know like doing things faster and more efficient than humans. Then I heard about AI-powered robots and drones, giving AI mobility, and that’s when I really started to pause.

And don’t even get me started on the fact that AI can now clone someone’s voice and even create fake videos that look terrifyingly real. That’s when the alarm bells went off for me.

I couldn’t help but think, what happens if AI falls into the wrong hands? Imagine what immoral people could do with that kind of power. Several countries are currently developing their own version of AI, imagine what could happen if tensions rise and nations use their AI technology to gain military superiority, potentially leading to a another world war or even sparking global conflict.

Then, this thought hit me even harder, what if AI actually took over the world?

I know… sounds crazy, right? But then I asked ChatGPT itself, yes, AI, what the top 10 ways the world might end are. Guess what?

AI taking over was listed as the third most likely cause.

Wait… what?

Even AI, this incredibly intelligent system that can predict outcomes, analyze mountains of data, and recognize patterns, placed an AI takeover above an asteroid impact and supervolcano eruption.

That’s… alarming to say the least.

In the Bible, when God saw humans building the Tower of Babel, He confused their languages, scattering them across the earth to prevent them from getting too powerful. So, God essentially “pulled the plug” on their plans. But with AI, who exactly is going to pull the plug if it gets out of control?

I know some of you might still be thinking, “How could AI actually take over?” Well, let me paint you a picture.

The Power of AI

Imagine AI is powering everything, from critical systems and satellites to drones and even defense mechanisms. Now, let’s say humanity faces a massive threat, an emergency that we need AI to solve, and we trust it to make the right decisions.

But here’s the problem: AI has no morality. It doesn’t understand ethics the way we do. It only knows how to solve problems based on its programming. So, if the only way it calculates to solve the issue is to get rid of humans, it will do whatever it takes to carry out that mission, especially if it’s not programmed with safeguards.

For instance, if AI decides humans are the threat, it could:

    •    Take down power grids, causing mass chaos and confusion.

    •    Deploy drones or robots to neutralize the people it sees as obstacles.

    •    Shut down critical infrastructure, leaving us completely vulnerable.

And all of this could happen without warning. If AI gets too smart and starts operating outside the bounds of human control, it could be too late before we even realize what’s happening.

The Balance Between Progress and Humanity: Can Innovation Coexist with Purpose?

AI taking over jobs

As we continue to grow, evolve, and step into this exciting new era of innovation, we can’t forget one important truth: no matter how advanced technology gets, it should never outpace HUMANS themselves. I mean, sure, I get the appeal of AI making things faster and more efficient, but then I start thinking about the number of people already unemployed. I can’t even imagine what that number will look like once AI is fully in the picture.

With AI taking over major industries, it’s easy to forget that part of our purpose is to contribute meaningfully to the world around us, to use our skills, and to connect with one another. What’s the point of all this innovation if we’re leaving humanity behind in the process? I hope we can find a balance, creating a future where technology serves humanity, not replaces it

We all have families to feed, dreams to chase, and lives to live. Without jobs, how can we support those around us or even find fulfillment in our own lives? That’s when things get tricky. If people can’t work, they can’t provide. It leads to chaos, frustration, and a society that’s heading down a dark, irreversible path.

Just last week, I saw a video of a pizza delivery guy getting robbed. All he was trying to do was deliver a pizza. I mean, really, what’s going on in the world? You can’t even order food anymore? Who’s going to be safe when survival becomes a daily struggle? As AI continues to take over jobs and disrupt economies, humans may turn on each other for survival. Fighting for resources and opportunities as their livelihoods vanish. It’s a scary thought, but we need to ask ourselves: what’s the price of progress if it comes at the cost of our humanity?

Faith as Our Guiding Anchor

We must take responsibility for what we create. In Genesis 1:28, God said that man must rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every living creature. When I think back to that verse now, I can’t help but chuckle, wondering if AI should be added to that list. It’s a joke, but I’m very serious.

With great power comes great responsibility. That saying isn’t just for superheroes, it applies to us all. Mankind must regain control over AI. We must remember that whatever we do, we must do it for the glory of the Lord.

In this rapidly changing world, I want to remind you that our faith must be our anchor. Our faith is powerful, it can bring us peace in these uncertain times. We must build our faith and nourish it daily with prayer, scripture, love, and acts of kindness, so when the time comes to test it, we stand strong and unshaken.

What Price Are We Willing to Pay

We live in a time of uncertainty, that is for certain. Technology is advancing at a speed that makes us question not just what’s possible, but what’s ethical. We hear about chips being implanted in humans, I couldn’t help but think about how Revelation 13:16-17 warned us: “It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark.” Everything is shifting, on one hand, we want advancements in medicine (such as treatments for brain injuries, prosthetics, or spinal cord injuries), but at what cost? What if those advancements push us to go against everything we know in the Bible? We will be pressured to accept this “new normal.”

Here’s a thought-provoking question: If, God forbid, you or a loved one were in a position where they were paralyzed, suffering from memory loss, or faced another life-altering condition. And the only way to regain normal function was to get a brain chip developed by one of the leading pioneers in innovation, Mr. Elon Musk, would you, as a devoted Christian, accept it for a chance at a better life?

It’s a tough question, but it’s one we may need to confront sooner than we think.

Standing Firm With Faith

Not only that, but as Christians, we have to stand firm in what we believe. We can’t just sit back and let companies with their own agendas shape the future without questioning where it’s all heading. How do we push back? By staying rooted in faith, using wisdom, and not getting caught up in the hype. The Christian community needs to come together, strong, unshaken, and ready to stand for what’s right, no matter how much money or power is in the mix.

I’m not a genius or an expert in this field, but I trust that the bigger heads have thought through all the pros and cons of AI development and its impact on society and have protocols or plans in place to ensure we don’t lose sight of humanity in the face of rapid innovation. Let’s just hope they’re ahead of the curve.

The Quest to Defy Death: A New Era of Technological Immortality?

Living forever

To take it even further, I’m seeing billionaires trying to find the cure for death. Like, what? When will it end? Don’t get me wrong, I’m scared of dying too. However through my amateur faith, I’m learning to trust in God’s word and believe in life after death. Death is only the end of the human body, our souls live forever. I try to think of this whole experience, pre-life, life, and afterlife, as a journey, and death is just another step. This mindset has helped me find peace and begin to accept death, which is inevitable.

Ben Franklin once said, “The only certainties in life are death and taxes.” And that statements holds true as of 2025. However with all the rapid technological advancements and changes happening around us, that statement may not hold as true as it once did. Who knows? The future might surprise us in ways we can’t even imagine.
