Find Out What It Means To Have “Amateur Faith”
For a long time, I felt unqualified to share my thoughts on faith and the Bible. I’m not a theologian, a pastor, or someone who has everything figured out. I’m not well-versed in scripture or overflowing with spiritual “expertise.” Honestly, I used to be afraid to share my opinions or lessons, worried that I might get it wrong or that others might see my imperfections.
But then I realized something: God isn’t asking for perfection. He doesn’t expect me to know it all or have it all together. What He does ask for is a willing heart. A heart that’s open to learning, growing, and being shaped by His love. Faith isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about trusting God and walking with Him, even when the path feels uncertain.
So, I took a leap of faith. I started this blog with the hope that it will inspire, teach, and create a space where we can all learn from one another. I call it Amateur Faith because that’s exactly what I am, an amateur. The word amateur resonates with me because I am imperfect, still learning and growing which is exactly how I see my faith.
This isn’t about pretending to have it all together. It’s about showing up, being honest about where I am in my journey, and leaning on God every step of the way. I hope that as you read, you’ll find encouragement to embrace your own imperfections, share your voice, and grow in faith, because none of us are ever truly finished learning.
Amazed by the Intricacies of God’s Hand in Creation
Over the past few years, I’ve begun noticing how God has been working in my life in ways I hadn’t seen before. I used to think some people were destined for greatness, while others, like me, were limited by the circumstances we were born into. But God has shown me that everyone has a purpose, no matter where they start. It’s unfair to let our beginnings or struggles define us. They can hold us back from striving for more and stepping into the abundant life God has prepared. Trusting Him is what truly matters.
I’ve also started seeing God’s hand in the little things I once took for granted. The way a man and woman come together to create life. The miracle of a baby being born and how a mother’s milk provides perfect nourishment. How the earth provides everything we need to sustain life, from the air we breathe to the food we eat. The precision with which birds instinctively build nests for shelter. How the seasons shift to ensure growth and rest. How seeds planted in the soil grow into trees that bear fruit. It’s all God’s design. Every detail reminds me of His care, His intention, and His provision for all living things.
God’s Divine Plan revealed in Humanity and Nature
And when I reflect on the vast diversity of humanity, it’s impossible not to marvel at God’s perfect plan. There are so many different races in the world, each with unique physical characteristics, histories, and cultures. And yet, despite our differences, we all share the same blood and the same potential to experience love, pain, joy, and sorrow. We may be physically different, but we’re all bound together by the same Creator who designed us to be beautifully diverse yet fundamentally united. It’s a testament to His power, love, and ability to work within each of us, no matter where we come from or what we look like.
Experiencing God’s faithfulness
Beyond the wonders of creation, I’ve seen God’s hand in the miracles He has performed in the lives of those around me. There were moments when I thought He had forgotten me. Times when things weren’t happening how or when I wanted them to. But He has reminded me that His timing is perfect, even when I don’t understand it.
One of the most personal examples of God’s faithfulness is my brother’s story. He struggles with mental illness, and there were times I felt like God had forgotten about him. The financial burden of his care became overwhelming. I didn’t see a way forward. But in His perfect timing, the Lord provided a miracle. My brother received the financial assistance he desperately needed. You can find that story [here].
His journey is a constant reminder of why I created Amateur Faith. I wanted to bring hope to those who feel lost. To build a community that reminds people God is still working, even in the hardest times. To create a space where stories of faith can be shared.
This is a place for those just starting their faith journey. A place to remind them it’s okay not to have all the answers. Faith is a process. Most importantly, this blog is my way of honoring God for all He has done.
Confronting Vanity and Seeking True Fulfillment
Lately, I’ve found myself caught up in the cycle of vanity. My days have turned into a never-ending loop: work, home, Amazon, takeout, repeat. Don’t get me wrong, I’m truly grateful for how far I’ve come. Being able to afford things I once couldn’t is a huge blessing. But still, despite these comforts, something feels off.
The excitement I get when a new Amazon package arrives is short-lived. It’s a quick thrill, but soon enough, that familiar emptiness comes back. I’ve been trying to fill a spiritual gap with things that don’t last. Then, a thought hit me: What will happen to my soul when this life ends? What will I have to show for all the things I’ve chased that are here today, gone tomorrow?
God chose me, and that truth humbles me deeply. He thought of me before I was born, carefully crafting me in my mother’s womb for a purpose. Yet, I’ve spent so much of my life focused on my own wants whether it was education, career, providing for my family. I’ve put my personal gain above honoring the Creator who gave me life, health, and everything I need. It’s hard not to feel guilty when I think about how God made me important in this world, yet I’ve spent so much time chasing things that don’t matter.
The Power of Small Faith
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
— Matthew 17:20

It’s in this small, yet powerful faith that I find hope. Even when my faith feels small or my struggles feel too big, I’m reminded that God doesn’t require perfection, He just asks for my trust. And with that trust, He moves mountains.
I come before you, humbly putting myself out there, hoping you’ll give me the chance to share faith and Christian encouragement with you. My prayer is that this blog will reach as many people as possible and touch lives in ways I’ve never dreamed of.
Before starting this blog, I wrestled with doubt and uncertainty. Who am I to be doing this? What do I have to offer? Will anyone even want to hear what I have to say? These questions almost held me back. But here I am, stepping forward in faith, believing that even my small voice has a purpose in God’s grand plan.
To anyone feeling this same way, I encourage you to start your own journey of amateur faith. Share your struggles, your victories, and your perspectives. Don’t wait to have it all figured out or to feel “good enough” for God. The beauty of this journey is that it’s not about perfection, it’s about progress.
Nurturing the Seeds of Faith
Let’s plant seeds of faith, nurture them, and watch how God turns our “amateur” efforts into something extraordinary. Just like planting a seed in fertile soil, faith starts small, vulnerable, and often unnoticed. But with care, patience, and trust in God’s timing, it begins to grow. The roots dig deep, the stem strengthens, and over time, it blooms into something beautiful and life-giving. This journey may not be easy, but it’s worth it. After all, when all is said and done, what truly matters is not the packages we collect but the eternal treasures we store in Heaven.
Walk This Journey Together
If you’re reading this and have made it this far, thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your day to engage with my words. It means more to me than you know. My hope is that something here has inspired or encouraged you. I pray you’ll feel called to come back and walk this journey of faith with me.
Together, we can grow. We can explore the wonders of God, share stories of hope, and build a community rooted in grace and love.
Take this step forward. Stumble, learn, and rise. Seek God in the ordinary, and praise Him for the extraordinary. No matter where you’ve been or how uncertain you feel, remember this: God’s plan for you is far greater than your fears.
This is just the beginning. If God can use a heart like mine—unsure, imperfect, and willing—then I know He can do the same for you. Let’s continue this journey with faith, courage, and an unshakable belief that we are exactly where God intended us to be.
